Devido à sua íntima relação com o Atlântico, os ventos são uma constante na Serra de Sintra. E as águas que descem as suas encostas correm rápidas em direção ao mar. É também este oceano que está na origem meteorológica da névoa que cobre assiduamente a serra mergulhando-a num espaço indistinto e indeterminado; porém, em certos dias proporciona a quem ascende aos picos mais altos a experiência de ver que o mundo se espraia até ao longínquo limite que separa o céu do mar.
Neste núcleo evocamos igualmente o tempo na sua relação com o espaço: do largo, lento e silencioso tempo de crescimento das árvores na floresta ao veloz, impetuoso e ruidoso tempo das águas que correm ao longo das vertentes. Entre um e outro estamos nós e a nossa inconformada compulsão a transformar e a controlar o espaço à nossa volta; mas também a nossa misteriosa e paradoxal relação com o tempo, feita de consciência e desleixo, numa permanente tensão, por vezes conflito, com a fragilidade, a mortalidade e o esquecimento. Trata-se de uma irremediável luta contra as leis do espaço e do tempo, que é como quem diz contra o nosso próprio fim. Como as setas que fendem o ar mas que acabam por tombar desamparadas no chão – qual corpos que sucumbem à vertigem.

Due to its close relationship with the Atlantic, the winds are a constant in the Sintra Mountains. And the waters that descend its slopes run fast towards the sea. It is also this ocean that is at the meteorological origin of the mist assiduously covering the mountains, submerging them in an indistinct and indeterminate space; however, on certain days, it provides those who climb it to the highest peaks the experience of seeing the world lying before them, reaching the distant limit which separates the sky from the sea.
In this nucleus, we also evoke time in its relation with space: from the long, slow and silent time of growth of the trees in the forest to the fast, impetuous and loud time of the waters flowing down the slopes. Between one and the other are we, with our unconfirmed compulsion to transform and control the space around us; but also our mysterious and paradoxical relationship with time, made up of conscience and neglect, in a permanent tension, sometimes conflict, with fragility, mortality and forgetfulness. It is a hopeless fight against the laws of space and time, against our own end. Like the arrows that pierce the air but ultimately fall helplessly on the ground - like bodies succumbing to vertigo.
